Postdoctoral Researcher in Materials Science
We harness the power of over 40,000 students and staff. Students who provide hope for the future. Staff who contribute every day to Linköping University tackling contemporary challenges. Our values are based on credibility, trust, and security. By being courageous, thinking freely, and innovating, we together create a better future through both large and small actions. Welcome to apply for a job with us!
Your Responsibilities
We are looking for a researcher to develop methods for realizing two-dimensional (2D) materials from ceramic powders. The method will be based on the use of salts for intercalation as well as etching, focusing on the synthesis of MXenes and metal-based 2D materials. The researcher will also develop methods for scaling up related synthesis with a focus on sustainable processes.
You will synthesize 3D powder-based ceramics and perform exfoliation (etching) of the powder to produce 2D materials in various forms. You will also conduct fundamental studies of the materials (electronic and optical properties).
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Develop synthesis protocols for producing 2D materials from powders.
- Develop and optimize scalable synthesis of developed materials, with a focus on sustainable processes.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in the responsibilities, but at most one-fifth of the working time.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have a PhD or an equivalent foreign degree assessed to correspond to a PhD. Your degree must be obtained by the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a degree obtained earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
You should have:
- A PhD in materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related field.
- Documented experience in the synthesis and characterization of MAX phases in powder form and their chemical exfoliation to produce two-dimensional materials.
- Proven ability to publish in highly ranked journals.
- Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
You are genuinely interested in materials science and enjoy working in a team.
Your Workplace
The position is located at the Department of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (IFM). You will be part of a world-leading environment for materials science, known for its groundbreaking work in 2D materials and functional materials.
About the Position
The position is a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
Start date by agreement.
